Wow, has it really been since Halloween? I just don’t have time to do anything anymore. But today is not about complaints, it’s about being thankful. This year, I’m thankful to be employed. Not just employed, but employed by a fantastic company. I’m thankful for the new friends I’ve made, my teammates. I’m having a lot of fun with them. I’m feeling alive again.

Don’t get me wrong. Life after divorce has been great, but there were certain areas that I shut off. I’d joke about being dead inside, but it was sorta true. I don’t want to live like that anymore. Thanks for reminding me I’m awesome, and that I deserve to live life.

As always, I’m thankful for family. I’m alone here in AZ, yet I know you’re all there for me. I love your emails, your texts, your participation in the family website, and that you ask Mom about me. I love you.

Halloween is a bittersweet time for me in recent years. Once the happiest of holidays for me, it’s now also a reminder of a past life, an alternate reality, a would-have-been. Maybe that’s what’s behind my recent behavior. Those of you at happy hour the past two weeks know to what I am referring. Discretion, please. If any of that ends up on YouTube, you’re in so much trouble! Oh and thank you for being there for me.

For those of you thoroughly enjoying this Halloween, be safe, be happy and may your costumes win Best/Funniest/Scariest/Most Original/Sexiest.

Happy Easter to those of you celebrating this particular holiday. I admit it’s mostly just a special day for family to me, rather than a religious holiday, but it’s a special day nonetheless. If you don’t celebrate, do have a wonderful Sunday.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone. And Happy Birthday to baby Haley, who joined us this morning. I love you already, kiddo, and can’t wait to meet you. Jes and Adam, congratulations!

Wow, 2009. It doesn’t seem possible. I wanted to write this nice elegant post, but I spent my brainpower on a review of 2008 for my family website. So I’ll just say this: Happy New Year, people!

PS I’m going to Forks this year. Who’s with me?

Merry Christmas every one. I can’t say that I ever really got in the Christmas spirit this year. That makes me a little sad. But I’m with family, and that makes me happy. Besides I have so many other things to be grateful for. I can do without my usual Christmas spirit. Maybe next year.

I had a great flight, even though my neighbor was chatty. She amused me, so it was good. Turns out she read Twilight and passed them on to her daughter who is now a huge fan. Yep, this conversation started because I pulled out my book. I’m reading for the fourth time and I only just discovered Twilight this year. I’m beginning to wonder if there might not really be something to the term Textually Transmitted Disease. So, yeah, good flight…

The best part of the flight was getting in 30 minutes early and then my bag coming up just as I walked up to the carousel. How fortuitous! Mom drove us home and I took a nice nap. Once again I got just three hours sleep before my flight. I really must stop doing this. I don’t always get to nap like I did today. I woke up from my nap to find dinner ready and my nieces and nephew ready to eat with me and Mom. But wait, there’s more–Birthday cake! My Mom made me a Belated Birthday Cake. Creme de Menthe Cake–my favorite! We had a blast screaming Happy Birthday at the top of our lungs. Yep, I sang to myself.

After that, Mom and I were off to Uncle J’s. I’m happy to report he’s doing quite well after last month’s quadruple bypass surgery. What a relief to finally see him for myself and give him a hug.

I’m now back in Waterford, WI. The thermometer on the car said 9°F on the way home from dropping Mom off in Antioch, IL to stay with Uncle J. Yes, nine degrees. That’s cold to anyone out here, not just to this Phoenix Girl. When did I become a Phoenix Girl? Must be some time this year. I’ve been there for 10 years now. Does something mystical happen at 10 years. Do you go native at that point? However it happened, whenever it happened, I’ll be sleeping with socks on for the next 10 days.

Tomorrow I meet a friend from high school I haven’t seen in about 20 years. That will be fun. I’m looking forward to it. Thanks, Facebook, for making this possible.

Hmm…to stay up and blog while watching DS9 or go to bed before 2a? I think we know the answer to that. Tag Surfing it is!

The Macy’s Parade is over. The cheeseball is chilling in the fridge. The turkey is in the oven. The Holidays are officially upon us. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

I for one have much to be thankful for. Highest on the list is my Uncle J. He made it through his surgery beautifully yesterday and is on the mend. They will have him up and walking around today–amazing!

I am thankful for my friends and family. They are fun, loving, and best of all supportive. I know I can count on you, and I hope you know you can count on me. I love you all.

I am thankful for my job. Sure, I complain a lot about it, but it’s hard work, so I suppose that is to be expected. I really am thankful to have a job, especially with today’s economy being what it is.

I am thankful for my hobbies. Gaming, writing, reading, and movies, have done their best to keep me sane, especially the last couple of years. That leads me to thank a few authors in particular, who have given me the means to escape when needed in the last few years: JK Rowling, the writers of such recent Star Wars novel series as the New Jedi Order Era and the Legacy of the Force Era, Andrew Davidson, and of course Stephenie Meyer. A special Thank You to the folks at The Game Depot, Arizona, my FLGS. If anyone has kept me sane (Yes, I know. I use the term lightly.) these last few years, it has been you. Thanks for keeping my hands busy and my mind occupied.

I know I have a lot more to be thankful for, but time is running short. There is dinner to be made. I’ll close with Old Man Bobby. I cannot say Thank You enough, for everything. For more Date Nights than I can count. For dealing with my many neuroses and putting up with my crap in general. For backrubs I never have to ask for. For endless games of Ask Me About My Book. For doing my bidding. And of course for all the stuff I shouldn’t mention in polite company. Thank you. I’m a lucky woman to have a “boyfiend” like you. Don’t tell anyone I said that though.

Or Labour Day, if that’s your thing. I hope you’re enjoying your day off.

To all you Potterheads out there, I’m sorry your letter didn’t come. If you’re reading this, you are not on the Hogwarts Express, and therefore not on your way to start a new school year at Hogwarts. This reminds me of a piece of flair I found particularly funny on Facebook.
