(Thanks, Hollywoodstreams, for the video.)

Between getting firing, job hunting, getting hired, training, adjusting to my new job, and the general tunnel vision I’ve had for New Moon, July somehow snuck up on me. My friend asked last week if Harry Potter comes out this week or next. I must have looked at him so strangely. I thought, “He’s crazy! It doesn’t come out until…Merlin’s Pants! It’s July 1st!” I saw the latest trailer in the theater. I still have such high hopes. It really looks like it will be spectacular.

Thanks to StephenieMeyer.com and Caroolee7 I have seen the New Moon trailer. Thank you, really!

Hana has been coming up quite a bit in my Searches, so I thought maybe it was time to revisit this topic. Some time ago I posted about Hana Pestle and her Need (get it?) to find her way onto the New Moon soundtrack. She has a sort of Tori Amos/Alanis Morissette sort of sound. Her song is beautiful and fits New Moon perfectly. I still think it’s a great fit for the scene in the forest after Edward leaves, but others on Hana’s MySpace page proposed it for the “blank pages”. That’s a great idea! I could see a montage of Bella walking around like a zombie with this playing over it. It would really make the audience feel the emptiness of that period of Bella’s life.

Has anyone heard anything new about the soundtrack? I don’t see anything online, myself. Until we hear anything, there’s always SMeyer’s playlist.

I guess we’ll know for sure tomorrow, or later today, depending on your time zone. The reason I’m skeptical is that I’ve been saying for months that Summit should take a cue from the fanmades out there, and when does Summit ever listen to me?

Edit: Apologies to Spunk-Ransom, who took such offense to me linking the photo to their site to give them props for posting it that they felt the need to change the photo on me. Thanks to KQ and http://www.flickr.com/photos/slowdownsugar/3544846458/ for showing me the way to this poster.

New Moon location shooting in Montepulciano (serving as Volterra), Italy are about to begin. The pictures I’m seeing online remind me to my own trip to Italy a few years ago, when our tour stopped briefly in Perugia.

Ok, I think my head has stopped spinning and I’ve cleaned up enough of the pea soup that to post about this choice. *deep breath* Here I go.

To be clear, we are talking about David Slade, not David Spade.

Hello World! It’s official. I’ve been blogging for a year as of today. It’s been a crazy ride. At  first I didn’t really know what to do, but quickly caught on that if I post about Twilight, I get a ton of views. (Thank you Stephenie Meyer!) My following is steadily growing. As of this minute I’ve had 14,315 views, most of them related to either Luke Grimes or the New Moon casting call in Phoenix that I crashed, with a bit of ‘Bella Swan Porn’ thrown in for good measure.

Thank you all for continuing to show up. I can hardly wait to see what the next year has in store. As I said last year: Since this is posting after midnight somewhere, Happy Earth Day.

Quileute Cutie

Quileute Cutie

I posted about my Phoenix (New Moon) casting call experience a while back, and then revisted it. I wondered if the “Quileute Cutie” weren’t none other than Kiowa Gordon, who we will see as Embry Call in New Moon. According to USAToday Kiowa is from Peach Springs AZ. I wonder if I might have actually been in the same room as him (even if that isn’t a picture of the pre-buff Kiowa). For that matter Alex Meraz, who will play Paul, is apparently from Mesa AZ, where I have lived for the last 10 years. Hello, fellow Mesan! I wonder if you were also at the Phoenix casting call when I was there. If you saw a crazed white girl taking pics from just inside the door, that was me. I hope I didn’t annoying you while you were going over your lines or anything. If I did, sorry. It worked out for the best though, right?

I just updated my post on my casting call experience with photos altered long ago by Letters to Twilight (thanks again girls). While I was there I checked to see if I saw any familiar faces. I want to believe that Kiowa Gordon (Embry Call) is the Quileute Cutie I posted a picture of, but alas I am afraid not. If only it weren’t so blurry and I could find out where he auditioned, maybe I could get to sleep.

BTW, has anyone else noticed this about IMDB’s listing on New Moon?

Tribe names instead of character names for Chaske and Kiowa?

Dear Kristen Stewart,

I’ve spent a lot of time over at Letters to Twilight, so it’s sometimes hard for me not to think of my reviews, and other communications with people I will never meet, in anything other than letter format. So, that being said…Adventureland. Yeah. I think I kinda loved it.

While I would really love to one day see you play someone healthy and (gasp!) happy, you once again did a good job of playing depressive and damaged. I wonder why you were chosen for this role. Your character (Em Lewin) was an NYU student. I don’t know if she was a grad student like the male lead (James Brennan, played by Jesse Eisenberg). I might have missed it, if it was covered. The only reason I bring it up is because I know I was distracted by the ages of your characters. I think it was knowing how young you were while filming (what, 16?) or if it was because the two of you had crappy summer jobs, but I couldn’t help but think of both of you as high school kids. I know others were concerned by this as well because the couple next to me had a conversation about why it was that you two were always drinking, and in bars no less. One of them hadn’t caught on to the fact that you were both college students and probably over 21. So, I think we were all trying to keep in mind that the characters were older than they appeared.

Aside from that I thought everything was great. I was surprised to not like the character (Mike Connell) played by Ryan Reynolds. Good job on his part, because I really like him. I loved the 80’s feel of it, though at times it did seem much more ’83 than ’87. Ok, so I guess I had one more somewhat negative thing to say. Sorry. None of that is your fault, however, so please don’t take offense. I read a review before going to the movie (they gave it an A-) and they compared it to American Graffiti and Dazed and Confused. That’s excellent company to keep. Only time will tell if Adventureland becomes the classic that these two films have become, but I definitely agree that it captured the feel of the moment in much the same ways these other two films capture the feel of the eras they were portraying.

I hope Adventureland does well for you at the box office. I know our theater was pretty full 40 minutes before the movie started. It’s been a while since I’ve seen that kind of showing for a non-fanboy/girl movie. The theater was pretty packed by showtime, and everyone seemed to really enjoy it. So, well done, and I hope filming New Moon is going well. Have fun!
